Maryam Nawaz Sharif, also known as Maryam Safdar, is a prominent Pakistani politician. She is the daughter of the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif. Born on October 28, 1973, in Lahore, Pakistan, she is the child of Nawaz Sharif and Kalsoom Nawaz. Maryam has three siblings: a sister named Asma Nawaz and two brothers named Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz.
Her early education took place at the Convent of Jesus and Mary in Lahore. Following her schooling, she pursued a bachelor’s and a post-graduate degree in English Literature from the University of Punjab.
Initially, Maryam aspired to become a doctor and enrolled in King Edward Medical College in Lahore. However, she discontinued her studies due to a controversy regarding an allegedly illegal admission.
In 1992, Maryam married Safdar Awan. At the time, Safdar Awan held the rank of captain in the Pakistan Army and served as the security officer for Maryam’s father, Nawaz Sharif, during his tenure as Prime Minister of Pakistan. The couple has been blessed with three children: a son named Muhammad Junaid Safdar and two daughters, Mehrunnisa Safdar and Mahnoor Safdar.
